Kingsway Community Connections (KCC) in Glasgow and the Marcus Lipton Community Enterprise (MLCE) in Brixton are calling on both the UK and Scottish Governments to take urgent, coordinated action to protect young people and invest in long-term solutions.
Our joint statement sets out four key Asks:
Leadership and Responsibility – Establish a dedicated body to meet regularly with grassroots organisations so that national strategies are informed by lived experience.
A Public Health Approach – Treat violence affecting young people as a public health issue, tackling trauma, poverty, inequality, and deprivation.
Sustained Investment – Replace short-term pilots with long-term, properly resourced commitments that build stability, hope, and opportunity.
A National Framework, Locally Driven – Set clear standards and secure resources, while giving local communities the power to design and deliver their own strategies.
The time for short-term fixes is over, lasting change must begin now.
